Didcot football team scores new sponsorship

An Opticians in Didcot has pledged its support for a local football club as part of its ongoing commitment to working with community initiatives. 

Specsavers in Orchard Street has teamed up with Cholsey Bluebirds Football Club to provide playing kit for the U9 Girls team for the new season.

Club chairman Gareth Barefield says: ‘We are thrilled to receive this generous sponsorship from Specsavers Didcot.  The purchasing of playing kit for our teams is one of the most significant expenditures any youth football club has, and it is therefore vitally important that costs of this nature are covered by businesses or individuals.

‘The girls were so pleased when they saw the printed kit for the first time and chuffed to learn who they were sponsored by.’

Specsavers Didcot store director Adela Garcia says: ‘We are delighted to support Cholsey Bluebirds and contribute to the development of local sports talent. 

‘It’s really important to us as a team to support local community groups and grassroots sports. We look forward to hearing about how the season goes for the team and will be cheering them on as they progress.’
